Keywords:
divine inspiration, western premises, modernist thought, Nasr Abu ZeidAbstract
This study addressed Nasr Abu Zeid's perspective to divine
inspiration. From that perspective, he tried to read the divine
inspiration and Religious beliefs by putting them in interpretative and
explained situation, as he employed western contemporary concepts
and trying out to cancel incompatibility between Religious beliefs and
western curricula, he began his perusal of divine inspiration and his
view about it based on Intellectual background which found by
introducing the western philosophers different approaches that put
holy Quran into humanized and historical situation. In order to
undermine its holiness and make it available for outlook interpretation
and understanding, under the pretext of trying to understand it and
renew its concepts and leap it from a standstill phase which has been
put it to the effective and contemporary phase. Nasr Abu Zeid is
considered to be one of the most prominent people who in his view
tried to subject the western ideas and theories in way that suits with
our religious beliefs; by proposing these ideas, he led to intellectual
provocation and perhaps a politician one too. he was accused of
apostasy and be out of ordinary; thus this study aimed to display the
ideas and attitudes of Nasr Abu Zeid about this issue and determine
the deviation that he made by making divine inspiration humanity and
its history, and to discover the systematic flaw in his attempt to
correspond between divine inspiration western curriculum and make it
into one level. The study concluded that Nasr Abu Zeid's attitudes
about divine inspiration have carried many of intellectual deviation
and faith weakness. He also did not put any respect for the sanctity of
Quranic texts and this due to Nasr Abu Zeid's characteristics and his
influence of western deviation curriculum which represented by
western philosophers.
