ABSTRACT
This article will specifically discuss a topic tha may not have been discussed in depth by most scholars, which is related to Islamic religious and intellectual networks in the Southern Philippines, such as the active involvement of Muslim scholars in this region, especially Mindanao, in the 18th and 19th centuries in the context of the network of Islam in Southeast Asia. The focus of this discussiob is expected to contribute to the finding of research which have been done very well by Azyumardi Azra in his book, Networks of Indonesian-Malay and Middle Eastern ‘Ulama’ in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century (2004). The discussion in this article is based on the discovery of some of Islamic manuscripts in the collection of al-Imam as-Sadiq (AS) Library of Husayniyyah, Karbala in Biaba Damag, Marawy City, Mindanao, Southern Philippines. I would like to explain that the Islamic manuscripts in this collection are very important, even though theis existence is threatened, especially after the violence in the name of religion in May 2017. This collection of manuscripts belonged to Shaykh Muhamamd Sa‘id I, known as Imam Bayang or Saiduna, then inherited by his son, Shaykh Muhammad Sa‘id II.
