THE THEORY OF AL-KHALIL IBN AHMAD AL-FARAHIDI IN THE ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF PROSODY SCIENCE: AN ANALYTICAL CRITICAL STUDY

Abstrak

This research paper, lay emphasizes on some aspects of Arab creativity in the science of prosody (al- ‘Arud). And the great scholar Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi al-Basri (100 AH-173 AH), who was an important personality in Arabic sciences, describers were accurate in his description. There has been a long dialogue and debate spread in modern times as it was widespread in the medieval period on this unique scientific personality and on his work (prosody). Indeed, the work of Khalil and great creativity in the development of the presentations was impressive and high on the one hand and question and research on the other hand. How does a whole science appear? The people of its rules, controls, titles and terminology remained and this science is taught on the basis laid down by Khalil without anyone trying to study it on new bases. It is evident that, this paper is going to answer some intrigue questions that people may ask: has the Arabic prosody been theoretically used before al-Khalil? Were there any grammatical rules in place used and followed by any poet before al-Khalil established his science of Arabic prosody?
